Cymraeg Vending was Wales' first vending service operating company to achieve the new Quality Assured status imposed nationally by the Automatic Vending Association of Britain.
The award was achieved on 25th Oct 1996. In a revolutionary move that will change the face of the UK beverage and food vending business, the vending industry through its trade association, has launched its own Quality Assurance initiative - a kind of ISO for the vending industry, which sets strict standards for vending companies, covering all aspects of customer service.
This is a development that the vending industry and its customers have been waiting for. It will finally clearly identify the committed and dependable companies from the 'also rans'.
In operation in Barry since 1984, Cymraeg Vending is a family business. The company places and operates beverage and food vending machines in workplaces, leisure centres, public sites, in fact anywhere that people congregate. It also has a thriving wholesale division.
Responsibility for devising the procedure, documents and training required was shouldered by David Boull, although he says: "Every member of the company was involved in the process and everyone has seen their particular contribution included in the system."
Cymraeg Vending has now achieved this prestigious standard for the past three years and enrolled its sister company, Atlantic Vending Services of Bristol, into AVAB membership.
From our application to join the initiative, to becoming accredited took six months. "That it took that length of time to achieve is perhaps the best example of how comprehensive the procedures are," explains David Boull (Managing Director).
"We are committed to ensuring that we provide the best possible standards of after-sales service and support. The system is used on a daily basis and is a living, breathing concept not left to gather dust on the shelf. The initiative has greatly simplified the induction and training of new employees, who started working with the system from day one."
